I’m excited to introduce a Brisbane-based author who recently released his debut novel, U, a fast-paced medical and psychological thriller.

But Jim isn’t your typical first-time author. He’s a leading gynaecological oncologist, teacher, researcher, mentor and all-round great conversationalist.

What really intrigued me is where the story takes us. Yes, there are medical labs and board rooms (very much Jim’s world), but also the seedier side of Brisbane: back alleys, nightclubs and the underworld, all written with remarkable authenticity.

Which raises the question… how did he get it so right?
